The Skyhawks, winners on the 5th Annual Byron Tiger Shootout, get a little TV time on WTVO, Channel 17 out of Rockford.

The Skyhawks took 1st place in the 2009 Byron Tiger Invite at Prairieview Golf Course on Saturday. The Hawks nipped Lena Winslow by 1 stroke to win the title. This is only the 2nd tournament victory in school history.

Jake Arden led the Hawks with an 83 to take 4th place overall. Tyler Chambers' 84 was good enough for 5th overall. Jake Gasior and Rick Pries each shot an 89, but Jake won the scorecard playoff to take the 10th place flag home.

In the opening match of the 2009 season, the Skyhawks battled both the wind and the Warriors but dropped their opener by 12. Jake Arden was the match medalist with a 40. Rick Pries had 9 straight bogeys and shot a 44. The Hawks drop to 0-1 on the season.

In the F/S match, all 7 of the Skyhawk golfers were playing in their first ever high school match, so along with the wind we had to battle some nerves. Brian Legnaioli and Ben Dingman each shot 53s to lead the young Hawks who dropped their match with the Warriors, 192 to 219.
