The Skyhawks concluded their final tuneup before Tuesday's regional by competing in the Antioch Quad at Antioch Country Club.  Rick Pries' 90 was low for the Skyhawks.

Fox Valley Conference Tournament @ Oak Grove Golf Course - Thursday, September 30, 2010

The Skyhawks competed in the FVC Tournament on an absolutely beautiful day at the always difficult Oak Grove Golf Course in Alden.  Crystal Lake South, as expected, ran away with the tournament while the Skyhawks shot their season average and finished with a 369 to finish in 12th place.

Rick Pries shot a 39 on the front nine and a 43 on the back to finish with an 82.  Rick's score earned him 13th place overall and an All Conference nod.

The Skyhawks concluded their regular season traveling to Antioch and taking on the Grant Bulldogs.  Alec Brown shot his best varsity round ever with a 41 to lead the Hawks.  Colin Goulet was next with a 43.  The Skyhawks finish the regular season at 2-13 in dual matches and 14-30 overall.  The varsity will be competing in the Fox Valley Conference Tournament on Thursday at Oak Grove.  Tee time is 8am.

The JV golf team played well, shooting their 3rd lowest round of the year, but fell to a red hot Grant JV team who beat their season best by 22 strokes.  The final score was Grant 175, Johnsburg 189. Ryan Baron spent the day leading the JV team with a 45.

The Skyhawks matched their season low for the second day in a row, but fell to second place Grayslake Central by 13 on a beautiful evening at Boone Creek.  Finishing the rain shortened round from last Tuesday, Rick Pries and Colin Goulet both shot 39s while Jake Gasior shot his second consecutive 40.  The Skyhawks finish the Fox Valley Conference season with a 1-10 record.  The Hawks are 2-12 in duals overall and 14-29 overall.

The JV team shot their second best round of the year, but lost to the Rams 171 to 187.  Jon Schmitt's 45 was low for the Hawks.

Shooting their low round of the year, the Skyhawks defeated the Knights by 11 tonight at Renwood Golf Course.  For the first time all year, the Hawks had 2 golfers shoot in the 30s.  Colin Goulet was the match medalist, birdieing the last hole to finish with a 36.  Rick Pries shot a 38. The varsity is now 1-9 in the Fox Valley, 2-11 in duals and 14-28 overall.

The JV Hawks won their second match of the year, beating Grayslake North 198 to 208.  Ben Dingman shot a 46 to pace the Skyhawks.  Steffen Miller and Joey Kass also broke 50 with 49s.

Fran Noyes Invite @ The Oak Club of Genoa - Saturday, September 25, 2010

After years of getting beat up, the renowned Oak Club of Genoa fought back on Saturday and showed how tough of a course it used to be.  The Skyhawks scored 73 (not 70 as your math teacher coach calculated) and finished in 13th place out of 22 teams.  Rockford Lutheran scored 115 points in the modified stableford scoring where eagles were worth 7 points, birdies were 4, pars 2 and bogeys 1 to take first place.

Colin Goulet scored 19 points to lead the Skyhawks with Rick Pries adding 18.  Jake Gasior had 15, Alec Brown 12 and Ryan Baron finished with 11. 

The 13th place finish improves the varsity's record to 13 - 28,

The Skyhawks travel to Renwood Golf Course tomorrow to take on Grayslake North.  Bus time is 2:30.
