I'm Very Proud of You Guys

This is why we're here. Below is a letter that was sent to Mr. Harbecke and Mr. Shelton last night:

Mr. Harbecke:

Congratulations for having such excellent representation at the coaching and player level of the Johnsburg Golf Team. Yesterday, Woodstock and Johnsburg players met at Plum Tree National and the matches were very enjoyable to watch. Your coach was very positive and provided guidance to both teams in a professional manner that enabled the players to respond to the challenge with confidence and in most cases, an excellent result.

Moreover, your players displayed excellent sportsmanship throughout the match and this positive spirit carried over to the recap at the conclusion of the event. From a spectator’s point of view, players competing against each other but still providing assistance in locating balls, discussing the application of the rules and complimenting their opponent on a well-executed shot was very enlightening.

Thank you for having such a positive and knowledgeable coach and a team that represents your school in a very positive manner.

Regards,

Daniel Happ

A Reminder to All Golfers

For home matches - all players, whether in the lineup or not, should be at our home matches. Players not in the match will get a practice round in while the match is going on.

For away matches - players not in the lineup are welcome to ride the bus and watch their teammates play; practice at the opponents driving range and putting green; or even play if a teammate in the lineup gets sick, injured or can't make the match. Tim Healy played in 4 matches as a freshmen because he went to every match with his clubs ready to play. 4 different times he played because kids were sick, injured, or didn't come to the match.

And finally, for any practice at Chapel Hill, whether a 9 hole round or chipping and putting practice - Johnsburg golf team members need to dress like golfers. No one will be allowed to practice if they are not in proper golf attire.

Thanks,

Coach Frey

JHS vs. Crystal Lake Central - Wednesday, September 9, 2009

Crystal Lake Central 148
JHS 173

In the featured match of the Northwest Herald, on the busiest day in Chapel Hill history, the Skyhawks fell to state ranked Crystal Lake Central, 148 to 173. Teeing off in front of a huge crowd on the back nine, both teams played six holes on the back and then switched over to the front to finish the match. The confusion did nothing to deter the Tigers who shot a great team score of 148 with 5 of their players shooting in the 30s (six if you count the JV #1.) Tyler Chambers led the Hawks with a 42. The win keeps Central atop the FVC with a 5-0 record, while the Skyhawks fell to 0-4, 14-4 overall.
