Johnsburg High School Golf

The Skyhawk golf team had a very respectable showing Saturday at the Grant Bulldog Invite. Placing 4th out of 7 teams, the Hawks were a mere 7 strokes away from taking home some hardware and a third place finish. Jake Doherty's 84 was good enough for 8th place out of 42 golfers and a medal. Grant Fisher shot a 93 and Sean Rorig played his best 18 hole match ever with a 96.

The Skyhawks hit the road to Crystal Lake to take on the Hurricanes in a non-conference match on Wednesday. Dropping their second consecutive match by exactly 7 strokes, the varsity team did improve from Monday's match. Grant Fisher was the low man with a 45. Johnsburg drops to 0-2 on the season.

The JV Skyhawks had a tough afternoon at Crystal Woods losing by 56 strokes to Marian. Luc Lindal's 57 and Trevor Wotring's 58 were the best scores for the JV squad.

In a very close match to kick off the 2014 season, the Skyhawks fell 7 strokes short of victory on a beautiful Monday afternoon. Junior Jake Doherty led the way for Johnsburg shooting a 40. Grant Fisher was a couple of strokes behind with a 42. The Skyhawks drop to 0-1 on the season.

The JV Hawks were edged out by 1 stroke in their debut for the season. Anthony Moore overcame some opening hole jitters and shot a career low 47 to pace the Skyhawks. Freshman Trevor Wotring matched his brother's score and shot a 57.

We start our match schedule this Monday with a trip to Timber Pointe to play Rockford Christian.

Players - please try to wear black shorts or pants or khaki shorts or pants. If you do not have these colors it is ok, but try to get black or khaki in the near future.

I will be giving all players a copy of team rules this week along with some brief golf match rules.
