JHS @ Fran Noyes Invite - Oak Club of Genoa, Saturday, September 26, 2009

The Skyhawks competed in the 13th annual Fran Noyes Invite at the Oak Club in Genoa. It drizzled a bit on the way there and looked like rain all morning, but no rain came and the Skyhawks played well again finishing in 4th place out of 22 teams.

The unique Stableford scoring let each player score for their team on every hole regardless of how they had on previous holes. Jake Arden led the Hawks with 28 points and an 11th place finish out of 109 golfers. Players received 4 points for a birdie, 2 points for a par and 1 point for a bogey. Tyler Chambers finished at 17th place with 24 points.

The Skyhawks played well again, but the strength of the Fox Valley Conference was evident as JHS dropped their match with the Knights tonight at Chapel Hill 160 to 162. Tyler Chambers had his second 37 of the week to lead the Skyhawks. Jake Arden added a 40 and Colin Goulet had his best round in the last 19 days shooting a 41. The loss drops the Hawks to 3-8 in the Fox Valley and puts them in 9th place heading into next week's conference tournament. They are now 6-8 in dual matches and 17-8 overall. The varsity golf team finishes the Fox Valley Conference schedule with a conference average of 167.2 which is 1.6 strokes better than last year's conference average and is the best conference average in the past 8 years.

The Skyhawks compete in the Fran Noyes Invitational on Saturday at the beautiful Oak Club in Genoa (Illinois.)

The young Skyhawks finish their FVC schedule with a win and a 3-8 record. Brian Legnaioli and Kevin Betke led the way with matching 47s. Tyler Kulik and Jon Schmitt added 49s.

The Skyhawks ran into a red hot Grayslake Central team tonight at Chapel Hill and fell 149 to 166. Grayslake had 5 golfers in the 30s to post the lowest score against the Skyhawks all year. Jake Arden shot his 8th round in the 30s of the year posting a 37, including an eagle on hole 3. Tyler Chambers lowered his season average shooting a 40. The Skyhawks are now 3-7 in the Fox Valley, 6-7 in duals and 17-7 overall.

Man, how close was that? Tied with 1 golfer left, PR's 7th man came in with a 41 to edge the Skyhawks by 1. Tyler Chambers shot his low round of the year with a 37 to lead the Hawks. Jake Arden had a 38 for his 3rd round in the 30s out of his last four rounds. Rick Pries shot a 43 with an 8 and Tim Healy birdied the very difficult 18th hole to finish with a 43. The 161 was the Skyhawks third best round of the season as a team. The Skyhawks drop to 3-6 in the FVC, 6-6 in duals and 17 - 6 overall.
