Grant Bulldog Invite - Antioch CC - Saturday, August 29, 2009

2 In a Row!!!

The Skyhawks bested Maine West by 1 stroke to win their second consecutive tournament this morning at Antioch Country Club. The Hawks 343 was the same exact score they shot at Antioch CC last fall in the regionals and it was the 5th time in a row the Hawks scored better at the Bulldog Invite than the previous year.

Tyler Chambers left Antioch CC with the biggest medal of the day, it also had the words "1st Place" on it, because Tyler was the tournament champion!!!!! Jake Gasior took 3rd place and Jake Arden had 5th. For the second consecutive tournament, Rick Pries tied for the last medal position, this week 12th, but lost out again on a tiebreaker.

Crystal Lake Central at Chapel Hill - Cancelled

Today's match with Crystal Lake Central has been postponed due to weather. The makeup date is tentatively set for Wednesday, September 9.

We will have a short (1 hour) practice at Pro Circle tomorrow starting at 2:45PM.

The Skyhawks, behind Rick Pries' 37, broke the school record for 9 holes with a 154 today at Chapel Hill. Jake Arden and Tyler Chambers also shot in the 30s, while Tim Healy shot his season low of 40. The Hawks run their season record to 3 - 2.

Jacobs' Scott Cahill bogeyed the 9th hole to finish with a 33 to lead the Golden Eagles to a Fox Valley Conference victory on Tuesday night. If Scott had missed the bus, the Skyhawks would have pulled off the upset, but he didn't and Jacobs goes to 2-0 in the FVC and Johnsburg drops to 0-2. Jake Arden shot the low Skyhawk round of the year with a 39 and Rick Pries added a 42. The Skyhawks take on Marengo, Harvard and Huntley on Wednesday at Chapel Hill at 4 PM.

In Frosh/Soph action, the Hawks broke 200 for the first time this year with a 199, but fell to Jacobs 175 to 199. Cullen Mulvey led the way with a 48.
